BUILDING BRIEF
The removal, refurbishment and replacement of existing copper roof trays to repair existing splits and metal fatigue and guarantee the performance of the roof for the next 100 years. The works are part of a major heritage building programme to refurbish the significant public building, originally completed in the 1930's.
CHALLENGE/RESPONSE
Custom designed and built mobile work platform - designed by Kane - provided safe and efficient access for replacement of copper cladding, involving replacement of 2016 custom-made trays - more than 20 tonnes of new copper (approx 1980m2) - and took 12 months to complete. The contract programme did not allow for extensions for inclement weather, and was finished on time.
