Its been a while since our last issue - time flies when you're busy! - and there's plenty to tell you about.
KANE recently completed the construction of a new Science and Technology centre, on campus at the Frensham School, in Mittagong. The $3.0M+ project was a major undertaking for the school, having been a long time in planning and design.

As you probably know, Mittagong is located near Bowral in the southern highlands, and is just close enough to Sydney to commute daily (Steve Swane did it every day for nearly a year!) and just far enough from Sydney to be a 'remote' site. As is standard practice for all KANE projects, we worked closely with the school, their consultants (Tanner Architects) and local trade contacts to deliver the new facility on time and on budget.

Overcoming the challenges of working on remote sites is not new to KANE, having worked as far afield as Pakistan, PNG, China .......... and Canberra (well it is

almost 3 hrs drive from the office!). We're currently working in Orange in regional NSW for an existing client also.

Our success on these projects is due to the genuine commitment of all of our staff to building professionally, delivering a quality product, and fostering lasting relationships with clients, consultants and trade and sub-contractors.

And this year, we've been doing it for more than 30 years.

We'd like to introduce you to two new additions to our team.
Grahame Lavings - General Manager NSW
Grahame's appointment to this senior role reinforces the ongoing commitment of KANE to the Sydney market; and begins the next phase of growth for our business in NSW. His extensive background in construction and project management adds further strength to our team. A keen sailor, he brings a considered leadership style to the office. Grahame is currently familiarising himself with our systems, history and traditions; and is looking forward to meeting you in the new year.
Jeremy Barrow - Snr Estimator
Jeremy has worked with KANE for almost 5 years in Melbourne, before relocating to Sydney to join our team as Senior Estimator. Bursting with enthusiasm and energy, he prides himself on being a 'career' estimator and overcoming the challenges of 'building each job in 3 weeks' (in his head at least!). Since commencing a couple of months ago, we've kept him very busy and he's had plenty of success. Ably assisted by Hans, Sturt and Charlie, the estimating team is gearing up for a big year in 2004.
We're on holiday taking a well-earned rest from 23 December, and returning to work 12 January.
