Season's greetings from everyone at Kane Sydney.
Alexei took a camera to Canberra recently to record how the Magna Carta Monument was fairing more than 12 months after completion in September 2001.

The successful project involved the Construction of a monument within the Capital Triangle precinct in the nation's capital to celebrate the signing of the Magna Carta in Britain as the basis for our system of government. Designed by Falconer Architecture, with Project Management by Wethered Howe for the National Capital Authority; the project was partially funded by the British Government as a gift for the Centenary of Federation in Australia.

The monument is constructed on a green-field site adjacent to the old Parliament House. Decorative, off-form concrete walls and paving include brass feature timeline elements and phrases fixed to, or cast into the finishes.

A time capsule, containing several examples of contemporary Australian media, and other significant items is buried below the centre stone of the monument.

Coordination and delivery of the project required sourcing elements, materials and processes from NSW, QLD, VIC and using local skilled labour in Canberra. The cast brass dome structure was pre-fabricated as a custom element in Brisbane before being transported to the site for erection.

Originally completed 1 week ahead of programme, we are pleased to report the monument is looking good for the next 100 years!
