The
monument is constructed on a green-field site adjacent to the old
Parliament House. Decorative, off-form concrete walls and paving include
brass feature timeline elements and phrases fixed to, or cast into
the finishes.
A time capsule,
containing several examples of contemporary Australian media, and
other significant items is buried below the centre stone of the
monument.
Coordination
and delivery of the project required sourcing elements, materials
and processes from NSW, QLD, VIC and using local skilled labour
in Canberra. The cast brass dome structure was pre-fabricated as
a custom element in Brisbane before being transported to the site
for erection.
Originally completed
1 week ahead of programme, we are pleased to report the monument
is looking good for the next 100 years!
