Not just Heritage jobs, two industrial projects get the KANE treatment.

The rendered and freshly painted walls of this typical 1950's Redfern Warehouse give some hint of the transformation recently completed within. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (PRA) offices, amenities and warehouse have been extensively upgraded & refurbished by KANE.
Works were completed in stages requiring careful planning for safety, traffic movement & heavy construction in occupied areas. Co-ordination by KANE with the client's Project Manager - Trevor McNally, and the staff and users of PRA enabled the busy office, warehouse and workshop functions to remain fully operational.

The $1.3M project has provided new essential & emergency services, a disabled access lift, up to date offices, larger truck entry & loading dock, and a new front entry 'address'. All new, modern amenities greatly improve comfort for the users, and a bright and sophisticated colour palette keeps it interesting!
The neighbours are amazed...! After a good start with safe and quick demolition of the existing buildings, visible progress slowed for a month or so while poor ground conditions, hidden water courses and faults in the founding rock were overcome. Oh, we also had to underpin both neighbouring buildings!
The Kane team of Neal Jenkins (PM) and Steve Swane (SM) saw an opportunity to simplify the structure to incorporate greater prefabrication, and shorten the program on-site.

Working closely with the architect, Garry Barnes, and structural engineer M+G Consulting, the building sequence has been streamlined. The perimeter walls were changed to full-height precast and erected in two days; followed immediately by the roof - erected & sheeted ahead of the 4 levels of concrete suspended slabs below. Imagine the neighbours' surprise!
The level 2 slab was poured last Friday, and the remaining two levels will be poured by Christmas. We are making up time fast. Infrastructure service provider, Fieldforce Pty Ltd will soon be proudly moving the 100 yards or so up the road to their magnificent new head office, workshops and warehouse.
