Kane Constructions was awarded the $33m contract to undertake this project on a fixed price lump sum after an arduous tender phase. The main building consists of 43 hotel rooms, various function rooms, meeting rooms, a sports bar with on-course and off-course betting counters, bistro restaurant, gaming room for 80 machines. A separate Horse Stalls building and Facilities building for the Clients operational use were also part of the contract.
Extensive external works comprising car parks and lighting, recycled water tanks, retaining walls and landscaping were involved. The project was completed at the end of 2008, ahead of program and allowing for an earlier than scheduled opening in 2009. Racing commenced in mid-2009.
