Minister for Health, the Honourable Daniel Andrews was joined by two-year-old Brayden Kotsch and his family at the turning of the sod ceremony for the new Special Care Nursery at Casey Hospital.
Works will see the Special Care Nursery expand from 6 to 20 neonatal cots and will enable Casey Hospital to provide up to an estimated 1,000 additional births per annum increasing the annual number of births from 1,500 to 2,500. Pictured is Kane Site Manager Doug Putt with Brayden who was born at Casey Hospital in 2007 and spent two weeks with respiratory concerns at the Special Care Nursery. Following completion of the project in late 2010, the facility will have transformed from a Low Level 2 to a High Level 2 Nursery. |

Kane Constructions was awarded the $4m lump sum contract in late 2009.
